【Characteristics】This product is a light brown-yellow powder; it has a faint odor and a bitter taste.
[Functions] Clears heat and dries dampness; cools the blood and stops dysentery.
Indications: Damp-heat diarrhea and dysentery, as well as heat-toxin–induced bloody dysentery.
Damp-Heat Diarrhea and Dysentery Clinical manifestations include mental depression, fever, decreased or absent appetite, excessive thirst and polydipsia, occasional mild abdominal pain, a tendency to lie curled up with the back arched, markedly increased frequency of defecation, frequent straining during bowel movements, tenesmus, sticky and malodorous stools—sometimes fetid or even foul-smelling—short, reddish urine, a red oral mucosa, a thick yellow tongue coating, halitosis, and a deep, rapid pulse.
Heat-toxin dysentery with blood Clinical presentation includes symptoms of damp-heat diarrhea and dysentery, with copious blood mixed in the stool.
【Usage and Dosage】Horses and cattle: 40–60 g; sheep and pigs: 10–20 g; rabbits and poultry: 1–3 g.
